Exporting a CineForm Project to Your HDV Camcorder Using M2T
Date: 11/6/07

M2T Export - Overview

CineForm’s Aspect HD and Prospect HD families now support the ability to export M2T files from Adobe Premiere Pro. An overview of the export process is:
  1. Export your Premiere Pro timeline to a "CineForm M2T" file from within Premiere Pro.  The export will create an M2T file with the proper HDV camcorder parameters based on your timeline settings.  The file will be written to disk.

  2. Load HDLink.  Export the M2T file to your camcorder using the Export tab in HD Link.

NOTE: The M2T export does not allow creation of MPEG 2 files with parameters other than for HDV camcorders.

M2T File Export from Premiere Pro - Detailed Description

Once your timeline is complete, select “Export à Movie” from the File menu:

IMPORTANT: Due to the time it takes for the HDV tape devices to spool up fast enough to record, we suggest putting 10 seconds of black video in front of your sequence so that the beginning is not inadvertently lost when exporting to tape.

Select “CineForm M2T” for your File Type, and select whether you want to export your entire sequence or just the work area.

Then, click “Video” in the left tab to bring up the following menu:

Make sure your frame size, frame rate, and pixel aspect ratio all match your project settings.  The example above is for a 1080i60 project.

For 720p projects, select 1280x720 for your frame size and “Square Pixels (1.0)” for your Pixel Aspect Ratio.

Note for Prospect users with 1920x1080 projects: Enter 1440 x 1080 for your frame size and “HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)” for your pixel aspect ratio. There is no 1920x1080 standard for HDV.

Then, select “Keyframe and Rendering” in the left tab:

For 1080i projects, select “Upper Field First” in the Fields drop-down list.

For all other projects, including 1080p and 720p, select “No Fields (Progressive)”.

Click “OK” to save your settings.

Select a destination for your file, name it with a “.m2t” extension and click “Save” to begin your export.

Once your export is complete, you will have an M2T file that you can now export to tape using HD Link.
