Convert Camera or File-Based Source to CineForm Files |
-
File
Conversion: The first step in a CineForm workflow is to convert your
source material into CineForm AVI or MOV files. After conversion, your
CineForm files become your new master files which allows you to archive your
original source files.
You would normally choose an AVI wrapper when your post-production is
intended for Windows, and a MOV wrapper when post will be handled on Mac.
-
HD Link: HD Link is an important
workhorse utility for camera acquisition and file conversion because of the
broad file formats supported and the rich pre-processing included. All
CineForm products include HD Link.
Also, within our Aspect and Prospect families you can separately use the
Adobe Premiere Pro capture window to record HD-SDI or HDV content into
CineForm files.
-
Supported camera/file formats:
- HDV, AVCHD,
- DVCPro HD, XDCam HD/EX,
- Infinity J2K MXF (pending)
- Redcode R3D (pending)
- Uncompressed Raw from Dalsa, Arri, Vision
Research cameras
- DPX
- HD-SDI (with AJA or Blackmagic cards)
By the way, we support virtually all of the "special" modes camera
manufacturers build into their cameras, such as the "F" modes from Canon,
the "CineFrame" modes by Sony, and the 50p/60p modes by JVC.
-
At right is the Preferences panel for HD Link.
During conversion you have a choice of numerous pre-processing operations as
shown in the Preferences panel, including:
- choice of AVI or MOV wrappers
- telecine removal,
- deinterlacing,
- spatial resampling,
- speed change (24p <--> 25p),
- image flip (for 35mm adapters)
-
An increasing number of post-production
facilities have Wafian HR1 and HR2 recorders/players. If you don't
have your own HD-SDI cards or decks these facilities can ingest footage for
you into CineForm files.
