CARLSBAD, CA, August 2, 2005 – CineForm, Inc. today is announcing that a beta version of its 10-bit visually lossless compressed digital intermediate software, Prospect 2K, working seamlessly within Adobe^® Premiere^® Pro, was used throughout the post-production process to finish the 3D animated feature, “Santa’s Polar Blast”.  This project was a re-edit from the original large format (IMAX) feature and represents the first time a fully animated 3D (right eye, left eye) feature used a compressed digital intermediate format in 2048 x 1500 resolution. Only systems based on dual AMD Opteron™ processors are capable of achieving real-time performance at these resolutions in 3D while running CineForm’s Prospect 2K on the Windows XP operating system. “Santa’s Polar Blast” is an O Entertainment production being distributed by nWave Pictures for theme park and ride film applications.

Lance Bachelder, Supervising Editor for “Santa’s Polar Blast”, originally saw a presentation of CineForm’s Prospect HD^™, the compressed digital intermediate workflow used in the feature film “Dust to Glory”, which provided validation of the uncompromised visual quality of CineForm Intermediate™. At NAB 2005, Lance saw a technology demonstration with CineForm Intermediate editing multiple Cinema 2K resolution streams in real-time at 10-bit precision.

The O Entertainment team was in data overload trying to manipulate 1TB of uncompressed 2048 x 1500 resolution Targa files. Lance called upon Prospect 2K with Adobe Premiere Pro and the additional help of a time saving utility script written by CineForm that batch-converted the 2K Targa’s into CineForm Intermediate 2K .AVI files. That process allowed Lance to assemble the original 37 minute sequence onto the Premiere Pro timeline. Lance and O Entertainment Producer, Paul Marshal, had all they needed to cut down to the 15 minute version of the production.

Lance was amazed at the responsiveness of his BOXX Technologies system powered by dual AMD Opteron processors while editing the 2048 x 1500 right eye + left eye 3D material in real-time with Prospect 2K. “I can’t imagine anyone not working this way,” Lance exuded and went on to say, “Even if Prospect 2K is used off-line, this enhanced workflow saved so much time and cost, plus increased our creativity and the enjoyment of watching our show in 2K resolution vs. a highly compressed off-line resolution.”

Prospect 2K is currently in beta with selected customers, and will be available for purchase from CineForm’s expanding network of resellers or from CineForm’s website www.cineform.com later this year.
